One of the biggest hang-ups aspiring online marketers experience is the selection of a profitable niche. Most who come into learning how to build an online campaign find themselves stuck with the endless possibilities.
What is an online niche? How do I know which niche to get into? Why is my niche so saturated and highly competitive? Why am I not making any money in my chosen niche?
These are some of many questions newbies ask, and all the more, folks that have been in the game for awhile.
Niche research doesn’t have to be complicated nor does it have to be as hard as many folks make it out to be. Many find niche selection and research intimidating, and perhaps you too.
Well, I’m here to help with a resource that will get you going on the right foot whether you are new to this, just starting, or have been swimming in a trackless sea trying to find answers.

Kyle Unveils The Process of Finding a Niche from A To Z!
Let Me Show You a Few Niche Sites Here…
The following screenshots of websites and a blurb about each will show you that, just about everything under the sun winds up in a niche site somewhere. I hope to choose a niche that you would enjoy writing about, you have an interest in, whether it be a hobby, a certain product or a problem that you know how to address and could benefit others to read about…
Interest
Fishing is an extremely popular sport amongst outdoorspeople. Even the smallest niches within this industry (an industry is larger than a niche and contains several, to many, smaller niches inside of it.) are avid money-makers.
I will not choose a niche like this because, even though it is a money-maker, I have no interest in fishing at all. Maybe in my later years, but not now. I might be able to make some money promoting the best bass lure out there, but it would be a hassle putting myself up to writing about it, let alone having to learn about lures in general so I would know what I was talking about.
Make sure whatever you work on is something you would be interested in. Often, people get into niches that are essentially “money-makers” but, to them, is very dry and meaningless. Chances are, if you try to write about fishing lures, for example, if you are not particularly interested in fishing at all, will…
- require you to learn about fishing lures because you probably don’t know much about them.
- be more of a chore than a endeavour.
- require much more effort to actually start writing the content.
- probably won’t be as well-written as it could be.
- produce a “have to do it,” rather than a “can’t wait to do it.”
- eventually fail, wasting time, effort & money.
Make sure you have an interest in what you set out to do. It definitely makes a difference whether the campaign makes it or not. You will be glad you did!
Ever work in a job that you had to take because you needed the paycheck? Sure, most of us do, or have had the experience. It’s not fun being on the job every day, and in fact… what happens?
You become disengaged with what you are doing don’t you? Well, it’s the same thing here. You don’t want that. Don’t choose a niche for the money-maker that is it. Chances are, you won’t make anything from it, or very little at best. You will want to choose something that you really can relate to and want to learn about.
Passion
Interest is one thing, but, personally knowing the author of the above example, here’s a niche site of someone who is more than just interested in the topic of baseball – he lives baseball and absolutely loves to write about it.
In this example, the site is about the famous “Field of Dreams” in Iowa. It is the backdrop for the famous movie of the same name. The movie itself really captured my attention as it’s not just about baseball – it’s about pursuing your dreams. If you get the chance to view it, this movie will move you!
The author here has built around this theme. The site offers a number of articles about baseball, the players, movies and other points of interest about the sport. I’ve been honored to help develop this site in its early stages and it has gone forward since.
Notes that can be made from this site and what we can learn from it:
Not just an interest, but a SHEER passion.
The site grows at a steady rate because the author loves this topic.
The writing in the site is highly-engaging and articulate.
The reader can catch the spirit because of this articulation.
The author makes himself part of the theme.
That’s pure passion!
The site promotes sports movies, both baseball and football. It’s not limited to this. Just last evening, I was in chat with this author, and he has a small television with a game going on, Boston vs Cardinals….
I jokingly mentioned the Red Sox in the chat not knowing the team was actually playing! He said he was missing the game because we were on chat. I told him to get to it if it was on top of the 7th inning and we closed the chat. I went to work and he probably did as well – with the game going on.
That’s pure passion!

Hope this helped!

Finding niches is something that gets much easier as you become more experienced in online marketing, but even for beginners, all it takes is 1 simple tutorial to help you understand just how simple it really is. This is that tutorial 🙂
I appreciate that. 🙂 Nonetheless, niche selection is one of the most misunderstood topics in Internet marketing. Being a member of Wealthy Affiliate, it is the most troubling of all aspects found amongst the new members. However you are correct that it doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s not really once you know the procedure to determining niches and which ones are good and which ones are more difficult.
Wealthy Affiliate has some of the very best instruction on niche marketing that can be found.

Finding a niche is very difficult for many. But if you follow some rules of thumb like those in the video you pointed ou then you can make headway. Also using keyword research suites help a lot by reducing the time and effort involved in locating keywords and niches to target.
I’m sorry I have not responded promptly. The Internet was down for a week and circumstances were momentarily beyond my being able to get on here.
Wealthy Affiliate does take the bite out of this topic. What I like about WA most of all is the support they have. On top of the awesome lessons and training modules there, newer members always get their questions answered. This issue is very common with newer members but it’s not beyond more seasoned folks to learn how to work through this better than they have been.
Thanks for your comment 🙂
