What Does the Above Statement Mean?
The above words were written by Dave Ramsey, one of many successful entrepreneurs having blazed a trail to personal and financial success beginning with online marketing. He is one of many who struggled profusely in his early days trying to get out of the “rat race.” I have made these words my motto and I proudly display them. This is my story and how this phrase means the world to me.
From the time I was in grade school, I could not conform to the normal routine. I had fair grades, but due to my early upbringing, very roughly treated by my father and not well-understood by my mother. I was not properly prepared to meet the world and was severely taunted by the other students and home life wasn’t much better. However, I became very fascinated with the hippie folks of the time and learned much from them. This is where it all started for me.
Employment was worse than school for me. It was monotonous, not to mention, extremely boring. The workdays were much longer than school days. The type of jobs I held, in lieu of not being properly prepared for it in school, I could not interact with “red neck” -type folks. Being in low-paying jobs, the income ceiling was always very low. In time, the hippie involvement faded away into the past and I began to search for alternatives to working in factories, construction, and other labourious, low-paying positions.
Even when I was very young, I never relished the idea of being like everybody else. I did not like the position I was in and, unlike most people, knowing there had to be some other way, long before I heard that quote above, I set out on my journey. I had no idea where I was going. I just started going…
Entrepreneurship, the Internet, and Determination
Beginning in the late Spring of 2004, after having been on the Internet nearly since the WWW began, I stumbled into the online business realm. One of the epochs of my life entailed living in the woods in Maine for nearly a decade. This took me away from the world of television and in time I became attuned to being able to see behind most advertising.
My later studies in Logic and Argumentation confirmed many of my suspicions about commercial advertising. This would continue to intensify to such a degree that today, I can smell a rat in most of the Internet advertising we see today. Over the course of my Internet experiences, I learned much about how people are wired and how so many things are stacked up against the “consumer.”
I created this website for two reasons: To show that there are other ways to derive an income than working in a boring job out of desperate need. To point to alternate means and do what I can to divert others’ paths towards entrepreneurship.
Who I Am Today
I still don’t watch television. I spend my time studying things that have a strong impact on empowerment. I take freedom very seriously and worked hard for it. I have not been “gainfully” employed (if there is really such a thing) since 2010. Instead, most of my living comes from the Internet thanks to an extremely unusual and like-minded community I joined at the beginning of that same year.
I’m still there today and not only keep up with the front lines of online business, but do what I can to help others realize the same kind of freedom and satisfaction in their own lives.
If you’ve found this page and know there must be another way to make a living, I would like to connect with you. I enjoy helping others and making a difference in other people’s lives. If you’ve tried online programs in your attempt to free yourself from a bovine boss and the same rat race every day, I can truly help you out. At this point, I’m not rich, but what I do is working and from years of having to find all this out on my own without a guide, until I joined that community, the fact that I won’t ever have to worry about employment again is becoming reality.
I’m here to help you and this is why this site is here. It does far more than any job I’ve ever had has ever done. I’ve already helped a lot of people just by talking to them and point them to programs that truly have excellence and lots of value. It is also my bread and butter. If there is any way I can help you start your journey away from the unsatisfactory position you now find yourself, I want to hear from you.
Please leave a message below. I will always answer and any comment that is serious and about going to the next level. I know how it feels to be trapped in a position I’d rather not be in. I know others share in this sentiment.
Your thoughts?
Just started in WA . Was surfing on internet when i saw your site .
Beautiful work . I liked your difficult story. You can be proud to go out .
Makes sens for me . I am 57 and I know what you went trough perhaps not all but I understood . Speaking of our life helps a lot to grow and to heal .
Your story is beautiful and will help others .
Wish to success more and more !
Sorry I didn’t catch your post and moderate it. I had a lot of spam on here and it just got lost in them.
Mine was a bad experience but there are people who have had much worse and some really awful lots in life. I recently spoke to a person named Chong who grew up in South Korea. I experienced some of the same things this woman did but not all of them. It was an awful story, but one that helped give her character today. She is a lovely woman and very down-to-earth.
Sometimes I think my life was hard – until I hear other people’s stories. Then I can see that, though my life was not a bed of roses, it was not too bad compared with others.
Thank you very much for your kind comments and hope you will give Wealthy Affiliate a try if you’ve not already 🙂
Daniel
I need help getting started
Cara, what do you need help with?
Not only is the smell pretty darned strong, but it isn’t enough
to squelch her pain. At the end, save soe and spend some that
way, so precautions are absolutely essential, and this will help you bring up a
sweet-tempered and obedient dog. Two years ago, when the Communists were vat in
china ousted from power.
This is an example of a “drive-by comment.” I usually delete these, but decided to put this one here for anyone who has comments on their websites and blogs, to learn how to spot these.
What’s the purpose of these type of comments? I’ve written a blog post about these, what they are, how you can spot them at a glance and what you can do about them.
The article is at Wealthy Affiliate University. You will need to create a free account to view the article, but you will also be within the absolute best online business training center that you will ever find anywhere. So, explore around in there whilst you are there. Find out why the free training in there is more comprehensive than many, many paid programs out there!
As for the comment above, people who do this, or have bots do it for them, are in it for the sheer back-linking they get from it. Many people approve things like this because they are usually “nice” comments. Find out why approving these is not a good idea. As for this one, I assure you, this poster will not get back-linking benefits from me – and they shouldn’t from you either!
Hey Daniel

I left a comment on your blog. Thanks for coming over to my site and commenting 🙂 I hope you are doing okay at WA. I’ve checked out your site but need to dig a little deeper to see what exactly you have over there. From what I can see, it’s a MLM for ebooks.
Lovely site Daniel packed with tons of useful tips. Was researching online marketing strategies for MLMs when I found your site and will definitely share it with my kid bro who just started blogging (for fun at the moment but I’m trying to direct him towards more impactful writing and positioning his blog for monetization and earning an income.
We both live in Nigeria – yes there’s the horrible tag of scammers but with over 30% Internet penetration (mostly mobile) for a population of 170 million this is a market that can’t be ignored.
That’s why I learning about Internet marketing. I have a pretty okay 9 to 5 but it’s not what I want to do forever. Apart from the incone, I really want to teach young people to fight unemployment, show them that they don’t have to wait for govt, or the petroleum companies or the telcos (the dream jobs here but certainly not enough slots to go round!).
I hope to come around here alot as I learn, earn and teach. Again, great job!
Thanks for your kind comments. I appreciate them. I am curious about the IP address. My software is reporting that, rather than Nigeria, this is coming from New York City.
I feature Wealthy Affiliate throughout this website. The business model it teaches is affiliate marketing, which in my estimation, is far superior to MLM.
It is also far better than employment, especially that which one must do out of necessity and is mismatched with their passions. Employment is good when it’s expedient, but it should not be a permanent solution.
Daniel.
The IP address thing is definitely odd. I browse off a cellular network so they fix what the reading is.
In any case WA wouldn’t let me sign on – guess they don’t let Nigerian subscribers in.
I like how you say “mismatched with their passions”. My interest in a plan B is in addition to my 9 to 5. Affiliate programs (still a form of internet marketing) are just catching on here but MLMs are well established. The fusion of both in the Nigerian market would be awesome – as a plan A or B.
I’m going to check in on this because, if I’m not mistaken, I’ve seen other people from Nigeria on WA. I will submit a private message to one of the owners to see what the scoop is here.
As for the affiliate business model, where it’s just catching on there, gives you a HUGE advantage if you can get in on it. It will expand over there. MLMs tend to be more established everywhere due to the fact that it is an older modality amongst average people, and for the most part, is also a very inexpensive way to start and run a business.
When I can get some answers, I will add a separate reply, so check back. 🙂
If this is the case where Nigierians are not allowed, it may be a something in the government over there. I will find out though, whether it is from WA’s end.
Daniel
I did check this out for you. Unfortunately, they’ve had serious issues with folks from Nigeria, and other select regions, excessive spamming of the platform and trying to hack into their systems, so for the betterment the community, they simply blocked these regions. This is not a reflection on you, it was a business decision they had to make. My deepest apology for this and that it only takes a few bad apples to ruin it for the good ones.
Hi Daniel,
I love that your work ethic and business acumen are lining up to follow your mission and have a site that serves others while offering opportunity for growth and income for you.
So much touching and encouraging information here. Thank you for your honest sharing with us.
Linda
Hey Linda,
Thanks for the kind comments you’ve left for me. Unfortunately things were down for me for almost a month and I’m just now finding this reply. I’m now in a new location and have much better Internet service than I had in the past. I may not make as much money as those “gurus” do, but I don’t use any of the shady and downright insidious methodologies that they use. I care far too much for the folks that take an interest in what I put here. I’ve learned my business ethics from Wealthy Affiliate. It’s a safeplace, more on the line of “family oriented” than you would find in places like Facebook or the Warrior Forum. It is extremely unique and when I found it back in 2010, I joined no questions asked. I knew this was “it!” I have been a happy member there since and is where I began making income online.
If you’ve not been there, it’s worth checking out since you get some mighty fine value without cost, and when you do pay, what you get, in my experience, is above and beyond anything else I’ve every seen since I’ve been online since 1997!
